Alberta Open Farm Days is a weekend that brings Albertans together, and we want you to be our guest. You’ll come away knowing your rural neighbours a little bit better and how food gets from the farm to your table.
Tours run Saturday, August 19 or Sunday, August 20 while more than 90 farms, ranches and ag-tourism operators open their gates and invite visitors to share in local stories, see on-farm demonstrations, and purchase locally grown and produced products.
ReThink Red Deer is showcasing its Piper Creek Restoration Agriculture Project on the Saturday and will have premium worm castings and organic garlic scapes available for sale. Three site tours will be available throughout the day - at 10:00am, 12:30pm, and 3:00pm - featuring the practice of restoration agriculture through the 15,000sq.ft Canada 150 Food Forest and Pollinator Garden, intergated pest (weed) management with grazing goats, and riparian plantings for beaver habitat restoration.
Please visit the project Facebook page for more pics and details.
