Urban beekeeping has become the massively popular worldwide as individuals have come together to do what they can to help protect the health and security of the honeybee species. A.B.C’s Level One Beekeeping Course will offer all the information necessary for you to learn responsible hive management within the cityscape. The course will bring together local and rural community members interested in learning more about beekeeping in a sustainable and ethical manner. Having educated over 150 new beekeepers in the past 2 years throughout Alberta, A.B.C. offers a tried and trusted course that allows the participants to walk away with the confidence to begin beekeeping in 2012.

A.B.C. founder, Eliese Watson will be teaching you everything you need to know about honeybees, their health, urban management practices and seasonal care! Eliese has been beekeeping all over North America, mentoring with Corwin Bell in Colorado and Sam Comfort in upstate New York (not to mention some bees on rooftops of NYC), and is a passionate and well-versed beekeeper for top-bar hive and warre management. PLUS, with The Community Hive Collaborative Purchase of honeybees gaining access to 75 colonies/nucs in 2012, you too can get local bees and be a beekeeper in 2012.

The course comes with full snacks and hot lunches (with dietary concerns respected and made primarily with local and organic food) as well as Beekeeping in Western Canada text book ($30 value). Workshop Cost: $280
