This applied learning introduction to the design science of permaculture explains the theory and takes you behind the scenes at an established (and thriving!) urban permaculture-designed property in Red Deer.

The philosophy behind permaculture is one of working with, rather than against, nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than premature and thoughtless action; of looking at systems in all their functions, rather than asking only one yield of them; and allowing systems to demonstrate their own evolutions.

This is an ideal introduction for anyone interested in learning more about Permaculture design and what it can do for your property. Emphasis is placed on the foundational principles and practices of urban homesteading, perennial and annual food growing (both in the greenhouse and under the open sky), rainwater harvesting, and renewable energy applications.
