3nd Annual Dawe Community Bike Fair and Repair Café
A FREE pedal powered event at the Dawe Branch of the Red Deer Public Library

Open to: Everyone. Children MUST be supervised by their parents at all times.
 

Repair Cafe

You, and your entire family, are invited to come to celebrate all things fun about riding bicycles in our beautiful city.

You can bring your bike that needs some repair and have our Bicycle Repair Café experts to help you fix it.

You can take part in our master-class on how to take care of your bike.

You can take part in Safety City’s mini bike roadeo and have your helmet checked.

You can join everyone in our 150 Canada red and white mile-long bike ride around the Dawe Centre.

As part of the Super Fun Saturdays Dawe Branch program, you can also enjoy a FREE barbecue lunch at the patio when you’ll finish your bike repairs and come back from the bike ride. All bike fair participants will be entered into a draw for a cool prize. Those who will wear red and white will be entered into the draw twice!

Wipe-Out Ski and Bike are joining the event this year with an exciting line-up of mini-tutorials:

12:30 - 1:00 Fixing Flats: Tired of being stranded on the side of the road/trail with a flat. Come learn some essential flat repair skills.

1:15 - 1:45 WHOA BIKE: Learn how basic brake adjustments, alignment, cleaning, and brake pad replacement.

2:00 - 2:30 TICK, TICK, CLICKING Gears: Learn basic tricks to adjust your gears, importance of clean and properly lubricated drive train. And what normal wear and tear is.

2:45-3:15 All the Nuts and Bolts: First we will go over important pre-ride checks. Then open up for any repair questions cyclists may have.

Safe Communities will have volunteers coming and giving some helmets away as well.

This event is co-sponsored by the Red Deer Public Library, City of Red Deer, Red Deer Association for Bicycle Commuting, Safe Communities Coalition of Central Alberta, and Safety City.
